      NewSchools Venture Fund™ is a national venture philanthropy fund
      working to transform public education for underserved children by
      supporting education entrepreneurs who create high-quality education
      ventures, and by providing thought leadership across traditional
      education boundaries to ensure that results-oriented, systemic

      The Associate Partner's role is primarily to cultivate, assess
      and support investment opportunities that are consistent with
      NewSchools' mission and strategy. This includes reviewing
      incoming business plans, conducting due diligence, making investment
      recommendations, providing management assistance, and refining our
      ongoing investment strategy.

      The Associate Partner will report directly to our Boston-based

      Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the
      following activities:
      Venture Development and Support
      • Work with the NewSchools Venture Team to develop, refine and
      communicate organizational and fund strategy, goals, and performance
      • Seek, develop and assess new investment opportunities that are
      consistent with our strategies and goals (with a particular focus on
      our Charter Accelerator Fund)
      • Present recommendations to the NewSchools' Venture Team,
      Board and Investment Partners
      • Provide management assistance to early-stage ventures and
      portfolio organizations in their efforts to achieve interim
      milestones and longer term organizational goals. Work closely with
      NewSchools' Partners and portfolio organizations' board members to
      provide support and oversight
      • Assist in the management and development of the NewSchools
      Network by representing NewSchools at conferences, meetings and
      networking events
      • Work as an integral part of the team that hosts an annual
      Summit event and smaller portfolio-related events, as required
      • Maintain strong partnerships with donors
      • Support fundraising activities, as required
      • Provide guidance, assistance and development support to
      NewSchools' analysts, as required

      • Demonstrated commitment to the improvement of public education
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities and high ambiguity
      • Ability to take initiative and own high priority tasks and
      projects; a "self-starter"
      • Management and operating style suited to working in a
      small-office setting with limited support staff, where teamwork and
      resourcefulness are highly valued
      • Personal presence and communication skills necessary to
      effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
      • Proven ability to learn quickly and continuously
      • Willingness to travel at moderate levels
      Professional qualifications
      • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills in order to
      assess investment opportunities; investing or due diligence skills
      • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills in order to
      understand, break down and address complex problems from conception
      through implementation; a strong strategic thinker
      • Superb writing skills
      • Outstanding verbal communication skills
      • Proficiency in financial modeling and financial statement
      • Effective project management skills

      • A graduate degree in business, education, and/or public policy
      • 5-10 years total work experience
      - 2-3 years experience in an operating capacity in an education-
      organization/charter school preferred
      - Experience working in a start-up, entrepreneurial, and/or fast-
      paced environment
