      improve
      public education within an entrepreneurial start-up --

      The New Teacher Project is a non-profit consulting firm that helps
      school systems and states develop the capacity to recruit, select,
      train and support new teachers. We began fulfilling four pilot
      contracts this year, and growth projections call for 96 contracts
      by
      the 2002-3 school year.

      With half the teaching force turning over in the next decade, new
      teachers will soon determine student achievement levels and
      influence
      school cultures - and they will be tomorrow's school leaders. By
      impacting the talent and diversity of these new teachers, The New
      Teacher Project will play a vital role in strengthening our
      nation's
      education system.

      We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to manage the
      organization's
      operations and growth by drawing from the best practices of the
      consulting world. Key responsibilities include: recruiting,
      selecting, and developing staff; ensuring growth and impact goals
      are
      met; driving organization-wide decision-making, designing the
      organizational structure, and determining resource allocation; and
      working closely with the president to develop a long-term plan and
      inspire the confidence of outside investors and the board.

      The COO will work closely with the organization's president, who
      is
      also the founder and president of Teach For America, which has a
      demonstrated track record of providing urban and rural school
      systems
      with outstanding new teachers.

      Candidates would ideally have an excellent track record in a major
      consulting firm. Compensation will vary according to experience.

      we
      began fulfilling four pilot contracts this year, and growth
      projections call for 96 contracts by the 2002-3 school year.

      We are seeking Partners to grow the organization and serve as its
      management team. Responsibilities include: managing the
      implementation of two contracts during the 1999-2000 school year;
      securing six contracts with states and school districts for the
      2000-2001 school year; building a team to fulfill the new
      contracts;
      and collaborating with the other Partners, the Chief Operating
      Officer, and the President to grow the organization into a
      significant
      force in the field of eduation.

      Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication and
      writing skills, the ability to think through complicated systems
      and
      make recommendations for their improvement, strong leadership
      skills,
      and a desire to help grow the organization to reach its potential.

      Salary range is $60,000-$70,000 with competitive benefits. To
