Job Opening: Chief Program Officer at Techbridge
- Techbridge (www.techbridgegirls.org) is a nonprofit organization that provides innovative programs to empower girls to realize their dreams through science, technology and engineering. Building on 13 years of experience, Techbridge operates after-school and summer programs and has served over 4,000 girls to date in the San Francisco Bay Area; offers curriculum and trainings to 17 Girl Scout councils around the country through the Girls Go Techbridge partnership; and provides trainings and resources for families, role models, school districts and partners. In 2012, Techbridge received Silicon Valley Education Foundation's national award for innovations in science.
The Chief Program Officer will lead the strategy and execution of all Techbridge programs, overseeing program development, high-quality implementation, evaluation and research, and continuous improvement of the program and professional development models. The Chief Program Officer will also oversee expansion of Techbridge to new cities, ensuring fidelity and guiding Techbridge's growth as a national leader in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programming for girls. A key partner and thought leader to the senior management team, the Chief Program Officer will be a new, full-time position based in Oakland, California reporting to the Executive Director.
Oversee development and implementation of all program-related strategies. Ultimate responsibility for design, execution, assessment, and continuous improvement across all Techbridge programs.
Ensure high-fidelity, high-quality implementation of all programs, using data and ongoing feedback to inform and revise program models. Ensure program alignment across all sites and locations.
Oversee curriculum design and strategy; ensure that curriculum development meets program and organizational goals.
Directly supervise four senior-level programs staff, who collectively manage a team of 12 staff.
Work with Directors and Finance on overseeing development and monitoring of program budgets. Oversee budget of approximately $1.5 - $2 million.
Review project grant reports; contribute to other funder reporting as needed.
Lead piloting and testing of new and enhanced strategies in preparation for building a robust, replication model.
Oversee scale-up of after-school programs to new city. Supervise local Executive Director and ensure successful program launch and implementation at new sites.
Develop, standardize and codify expectations and procedures for expansion program model. Partner with senior team to design frameworks, tools, and resources to ensure programs are implemented with fidelity.
Ensure best practices are in place for knowledge management across locations and that information is standardized and utilized.
Engage in partnership building in new cities with schools, funders and STEM companies; help lead effort in creating local advisory boards.
Participate as thought partner to executive team in setting organizational goals and strategy and developing plans for execution and implementation; contribute to strategic planning process.
Work with staff to develop annual program goals. Oversee goal-setting for all programs and responsible for monitoring attainment of short and long-term goals.
Lead and assess potential new projects for expansion and/or partnerships
Collaborate with Director of Development on ensuring the sustainability of programs; contribute to grant proposals and design of new projects.
Evaluation and Research
Ensure rigorous evaluation processes and methodologies across all programs; work with external evaluators to review and modify tools and methodologies for strengthening collection and analyses of data.
Oversee research projects, including longitudinal evaluation study and other studies to inform the research field.
Work with Executive Director and leadership team on producing research articles for publication and dissemination at conferences.
Qualifications: Candidates should have demonstrated leadership skills, a passion for education and community, and a personal drive for excellence. Other qualifications include:
Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably in K-12 education and/or non-profit
Commitment to the mission and goals of Techbridge
Demonstrated capacity to lead with vision and high level of accountability and personal responsibility
Experience with scale-up and expansion projects on a national level
Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills; effective strategic and tactical thinker
Results-oriented with strong evidence of use of data to drive strategy to achieve results
Superior management skills; experience supervising staff with high expectations, including supporting colleagues and providing constructive feedback
Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills, with an ability to communicate to various stakeholders and work effectively with a variety of staff at all levels within the organization.
Must be resourceful, driven, creative, and flexible
Experience managing large project budgets
Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Some travel required (up to 20%)
Advanced degree strongly preferred; Bachelor's required
