      CFY is a national nonprofit organization that helps students, teachers and parents use digital learning to improve educational outcomes. Our work is designed to support personalized instruction and student-driven learning so that students can meet the Common Core State Standards and develop full ownership of their learning. Our free K-12 learning platform, PowerMyLearning®, provides innovative tools and high-quality digital activities to help all schools integrate blended learning to meet the full range of K-12 learning needs. Our Digital Learning Program, which is conducted in partnership with low-income public school communities, helps fully integrate digital learning both inside and outside the classroom. CFY has demonstrated significant impact on student achievement, student engagement, and parental confidence.

      POSITION DESCRIPTION
      The Director of Development will play a pivotal role in driving the development efforts of CFY-New York City in close collaboration with the CFY-NYC Executive Director and CFY-National's Development department. The Director of Development reports directly to the CFY-NYC Executive Director.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
      Drive all Development efforts
      • Drive the execution of CFY-NYC's strategic fundraising plan working closely with the NYC ED
      • Work closely with NYC ED on local board development and management including determining how the board can best be leveraged
      • Identify new opportunities (foundation grants, major gifts, board member prospects, and government opportunities) and work with the national development team to conduct research and manage workflow process
      • Strategize on how to secure meetings to pursue opportunities identified, leverage the connections of board members and other CFY constituents, and work with the NYC ED and Manager of Development and Administration on executing that strategy
      • Work closely with the NYC ED to prioritize the scheduling of meetings and help prepare for these meetings so as to maximize their effectiveness
      • Track next steps for development outcomes, ghost-write emails and other messages, document meeting notes in Salesforce (customer relationship management platform), and record all touch-points with external constituents in Salesforce
      • Act as primary liaison with the national development team and attend all internal development meetings and some external meetings when warranted
      • Ensure that records in Salesforce are up to date
      • In coordination with national grant writing team, assist with proposal development and grant writing for foundation and corporate prospects
      • Track relationships among prospects, donors, board members, and other CFY constituents.
      • Take on special projects that are analytical and/or tactical in nature as they relate to development/fundraising

      Ensure a High-Performing Team
      • Manage up, by being proactive and keeping manager informed of changing priorities
      • Understand and communicate CFY's mission to staff, clients, donors, and other stakeholders
      • Actively solicit positive and constructive feedback from supervisor and other team members
      • Attend training (including in-house training) and be prepared to discuss concepts learned with team members while finding ways to apply learning at CFY-NYC
      • Model and hold other staff members accountable to CFY-NYC values
      • Contribute to a strong, outcomes-focused performance culture within the team
      • Handle confidential and non-routine information with sensitivity

      Support CFY Program to Yield Outstanding Results
      • Collaborate with program and National staff as needed (particularly around VIP visits) to achieve mutual success.

      CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

      Required:
      • Passion for CFY's mission
      • BA or BS and at least five years of demonstrated experience and success in development, fundraising, or sales
      • Strong project management skills and the ability to work in cross-departmental teams
      • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
      • Experience with research and relationship mapping
      • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills
      • Strong knowledge of the following:
      o Board development and management, including major gifts
      o NYC-based foundations
      • Strong ability to prioritize and manage up
      • Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapid change
      • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills
      • Proven skills managing multiple details
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal oversight
      • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, including a sense of humor
      • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) databases

      Preferred:
      • Fundraising experience in education-related organizations
      • Proficiency in Salesforce

      COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
