      Aspire Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that currently operates 34 high-performing,
      open-enrollment public charter schools serving 12,000 students in underserved communities
      across California and will open schools in Memphis, TN in fall, 2013. Aspire is one of the
      highest-performing public school systems in California, delivering a rigorous `College for
      Certain' education to students in grades K-12. An unrelenting focus on college preparedness led
      to 100 percent of graduating Aspire seniors being accepted to four year colleges or universities in

      GENERAL SUMMARY:

      Aspire seeks a driven, detail-oriented, and strategic Finance Grants Manager who is responsible for all aspects of financial planning related to grants administration. The Finance Grants Manger is responsible for ensuring proper financial stewardship of all grants received by Aspire Public Schools. This includes one-time federal grants, private grants, and ongoing federal grants for programs such as Title I and Child Nutrition.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
      Grants Development
      •  Participates in proposal and grants development process.
      •  Assists in the development of budgets for grant submission.
      •  Assists Development and Program staff to prepare grant applications, primarily with financial and legal related documents.

      Grant Administration and Compliance
      •  Reviews all grant agreements, documenting and communicating all finance deliverables, deadlines and responsibilities to internal stakeholders
      •  Ensures funds are spent in compliance with established administrative and financial policies and program guidelines for federal and non-federal grants
      •  Ensure finance grant deliverables and deadlines are met in compliance with grant agreements
      •  Prepares financial reports for granting agencies
      •  Provides technical assistance regarding grant applications, grant modifications, progress reports and budgets.
      •  Participates in regular grant project status meetings to ensure grant deliverables are on-track and deadlines are met.
      •  Serves as primary liaison with development and accounting teams to perform monthly reconciliations of grant funds received. Monthly monitoring of net asset schedule for restricted funds for all entities.
      •  Oversees the Food Service/Nutrition program at Aspire. Manages food service coordinator(s) who oversee the programs in different regions.
      •  Ensures compliance with No Child Left Behind funding. Prepares Aspire principals, school staff, and home office department directors for upcoming program audits.

      Grants Strategy and Financial Analysis
      •  Works strategically with VP of Finance and Senior Leadership Team to monitor sources and uses of grants, with an emphasis on multi-year national office grants.
      •  Performs financial analysis of grant funds.
      •  Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
      •  Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

      1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
      •  Strong MS Excel and financial modeling skills.
      •  Ability to provide timely and meaningful financial analysis in a dynamic work environment.
      •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      •  Ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to a non-financial leader within the organization.
      •  Strong strategic thinking, organization, and project management skills.
      •  Ability to proactively recognize and address challenges.
      •  Strong understanding of and experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
      •  Extremely detail oriented and dedicated to getting the job done accurately.
      •  Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.

      2) Minimum educational level:
      •  Bachelor's Degree required in a related field
       
      3) Experience required:
      •  At least two years in a financial analysis-related role such as consulting, banking, etc.
      •  Background in financial analysis and accounting, through coursework and/or work experience.
      •  Track record of identifying and implementing steps to automate tasks and increase efficiency.
      •  Experience managing a team through an audit is a plus.
      •  Experience with grant management a plus.
