      BUILD has an exciting senior management opportunity to join our growing organization as the Vice President of Programs and Evaluations.

      Founded in 1999, BUILD�s mission is to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success.� We believe that the power of student ideas in action drives youth to reach their fullest potential in school and beyond.� Our four-year high school program offers a unique blend of entrepreneurship, academics, and personal support that attracts and motivates many students who are otherwise at high risk of failing classes and dropping out of high school.�

      Our students develop their own business ideas, write business plans, pitch to funders, and launch real businesses.� This real-world business experience makes school relevant and motivates them to succeed.� To help them become college-eligible, students also receive individualized academic support and advising for their school-work and college planning. BUILD currently serves close to 1000 high school students at sites located in Redwood City and Oakland, CA; Washington DC; and Boston, MA.� For more information, see: www.build.org.

      Position Summary:

      Working under the supervision of the President, the Vice President of Programs and Evaluation (VPPE) serves as a key organization leader and decision-maker, overseeing all of BUILD�s programmatic initiatives. The VPPE ensures that all programmatic inputs, activities, outputs and outcomes advance BUILD�s vision and mission and provides guidance and support to the team as BUILD continues to evolve as a data-driven learning organization.

      Position Responsibilities:

      �������� With the Senior Management Team, cast and codify organization�s programmatic vision and strategic plan, including curriculum, program design, staffing, etc. to ensure coherence and integration across our program areas.

      �������� In consultation with organization-wide program team and Headquarters, set programmatic policies and supportive practices and culture that reinforces BUILD�s organizational core values and guiding principles.

      �������� Ensure that all regions execute BUILD�s core program while continually innovating in order to best serve local constituents; provide upward sharing from the field for organizational learning.

      �������� Ensure programmatic and organization-cultural consistency across sites and regions by gathering and supporting implementation of best practices from individual program staff and program-area teams.

      �������� Create frameworks for selecting and evaluating strategic program partnerships to enhance student service and support regions in their implementation.

      �������� Liaise with Board of Directors to report on BUILD�s evolving service model and national/regional implementation.

      Staff Management and Support:

      �������� Hire, onboard and manage members of the National Program Team (NPT) to outcomes and professional excellence, and create a culture of service and support to the BUILD program sites around curriculum and program delivery.

      �������� Facilitate and support the development of a professional learning community with the program staff that will promote collective learning and shared practices that are focused on programmatic impact and student outcomes.

      �������� Draft and execute NPT comprehensive annual department plan and budget.

      �������� Create, co-deliver and continually refine by-position onboarding and ongoing training for program positions.

      �������� Where necessary, effectively design, implement and evaluate pilot programs to assess further integration into BUILD�s core services.

      Knowledge Management and Program Evaluation:

      �������� Manage the organization-wide data-management system, supporting program-area teams and site staff in using real-time program data to make decisions and serve students to outcomes.

      �������� Research and share across the organization emerging trends and best practices in the fields of entrepreneurship, education, after-school support and non-profit leadership.

      �������� Assist in creating opportunities for program staff to share and learn new models and techniques in youth development, student motivation, family outreach and education, etc.

      �������� Represent BUILD interests in select public policy discussion groups and with relevant boards, committees, commissions, conferences, etc.

      �������� Spearhead organization�s internal program evaluation and reporting, utilizing site/regional metrics data and other information collected across program areas.

      �������� Serve as point-person for all external program evaluations conducted by independent consultants, etc.

      �������� Plan and lead or co-lead quarterly program summits and organization-wide retreats.

      Candidate Requirements:

      �������� Graduate degree in education, non-profit management, social work, or program evaluation preferred; comprehensive knowledge of best program and educational practices required

      �������� 7+ years relevant management experience; youth-program evaluation experience a plus.

      �������� Experience articulating an organization or institution�s programmatic vision, mission, strategy and tactics and building strong alliances to achieve program and organizational outputs and outcomes.

      �������� Demonstrated ability to manage projects and people at multiple and remote locations.

      �������� Strong belief that higher-education attainment is a key factor in equalizing disparities in the US.

      �������� Commitment to entrepreneurship as a way to improve students� education, career and life options.

      �������� Excellent organizational skills, analytical ability, creativity, communication skills and flexibility.

      Compensation:

      BUILD offers a competitive compensation and benefits package to all full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts and a 403(b) plan.� In addition, BUILD employees are eligible for paid vacation, sick time, 10 paid holidays per year and a flexible work environment.��

      Position Details:

      �������� Location: San Francisco Bay Area

      �������� Travel:� VPPE travels throughout the Bay Area and up to once a quarter nationally (DC, Boston, etc.)

      �������� Physical capabilities: Capable of quickly moving about in a fast-paced office environment, and able to lift 25 pounds from floor to table height.���������
