      We are currently seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, data-loving, Excel whiz to join our growing team.  This is an entry-level position with opportunity for growth that provides positive exposure to many cross-functional units (data, engineering, UX, design, product management, marketing, editorial, sales, and more) within a mission-driven organization focused on the role of parents in PreK-12 education.

      This position reports to the Director of Data Strategy within the Business Insights team.

      Primary Responsibilities:

      ·         Establish and maintain contacts with data providers and acquire school performance data files.

      ·         Clean, transform, and load data into the database, and configure for display on website.

      ·         Write explanations for each data point that are easily understandable to our parent audience.

      ·         Conduct thorough QA on the display of data and explanations.

      ·         Serve as point of contact for data-related user inquiries and provide customer service on issues related to data quality. 

      ·         Develop and maintain rigorous data quality control standards.

      ·         Contribute to data-related editorial content, such as articles and newsletters.

      ·         Coordinate other data-related special projects as needed, working with engineering and other internal groups.

      ·         Identify process improvement opportunities and work with product managers and data engineers to implement.

      ·         Be the driving force in the organization behind high standards of data quality.

      ·         Work closely with software engineers to scope and define requirements for automation and manual loading tools.


      Required Experience & Skills:

      ·         Bachelor's degree in Math/Statistics or Computer Science preferred 

      ·         1-3 years of professional experience

      ·         Strong interest in the education data space

      ·         Demonstrable proficiency with Excel, including formulas, filtering and data formatting 

      ·         Mastery of Internet navigation and research

      ·         Ability to work under deadlines and perform complex tasks efficiently and accurately

      ·         Very strong verbal and written communication skills

      ·         Aptitude for project management

      ·         Knowledge of K-12 education space

      ·         Knowledge of programming languages, such as Perl or Ruby

      ·         Familiarity with MySQL, Access or other databases

      ·         Experience working for an Internet company
