      Aspire Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that currently operates 34 high-performing, open-enrollment public charter schools serving 12,000 students in underserved communities across California and will open schools in Memphis, TN in fall, 2013.       This role will support the Controller in monitoring attendance reporting and state/federal compliance.

      Attendance Monitoring:
      • Compile attendance information and prepare attendance reports; maintain official records of attendance for each student in school.
      • Resolve PowerSchool attendance errors while soliciting help from appropriate departments. Actively review PowerSchool for data integrity issues. Collaborate with other home office departments to achieve accurate attendance.
      • Ensure timely receipt of schools afterschool attendance to Home Office.
      • Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of information, researching discrepancies and recording information; maintain and post data relating to attendance, cumulative student records and other specialized records.
      • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence.
      • Assist the Controller in evaluating the schools sites compliance with internal controls, state and federal regulations and organization policy.
      • Records, classifies and summarizes invoices, work orders, purchase orders, etc.
      • Assists in assembling and compiling financial data as requested.
      • Evaluate other compliance risks as assigned.
      • Assist in other areas at times of reduced office staff or peak periods.
      • Operate standard office machines including photocopiers, telephones, and accounting tools.
      • Type a wide variety of documents including letters, memoranda, reports, and other materials from marginal notes, rough drafts, or verbal instructions.
      • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
      • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


      1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
      • Strong aptitude in performing importing/exporting from outside systems.
      • Proficiency with electronic communication and Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Familiarity with general A/P and A/R functions, preferred.
      • Proven problem solving ability with productive curiosity. Good listening skills.
      • Strong time management/organizational skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret data without losing sight of how details affect the bigger picture.
      • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Trustworthy and discreet, with high ethical standards and a professional image.
      • Strong work ethic. Ability to absorb new information quickly.

      2) Minimum educational level:
      • HS Diploma; Associate's Degree, preferred.

      3) Experience required:
      • One year of general clerical experience involving record keeping and public contact
