      Think about joining a school and network of effective & passionate educators who are making an extraordinary difference in the lives of urban students!  LPS Hayward seeks a self motivated, high achieving, bilingual Intervention Specialist who will coordinate and supervise a cadre of activities, with particular focus on during and after school interventions for low-performing students.  The successful Intervention Specialist combines mentoring knowledge, a track record of success in managing projects, a can-do orientation, and an unrelenting focus on results.
       
      Leadership Public Schools' mission is to prepare students to succeed in college and to develop effective student leaders. We offer small schools so that students have more one-on-one time with teachers along with a four year leadership advisory program in which students take responsibility for their lives and improve their community.       Responsibilities: Academic Intervention and Support     
      • Provides a secure environment for students and staff
      • Provides mentoring for students as form of preventative intervention
      • Promotes a strong school culture and school pride
      • Supports the Principal by:
        • Organizing, managing, and accounting for detention system including Saturday School
        • Working with truant students to improve attendance
        • Monitoring and following-up with students
        • Organizing, managing, and accounting for Homework Center
      • Coordinates and facilitates (or establish partnerships with organizations) to have on-campus student counseling support (i.e. gang prevention, anger management, and others based on student need)
      • Coordinates, under the direction of the administrators, peer tutoring program
      • Fulfills other duties as need to support our students.
       
      Qualifications:
      • Experience working with urban youth in a school setting
      • Experience with facilitating student groups
      • Mastery in using data to target problems and design solutions
      • Relentless drive to attain results
      • Successful participant in Student Study Teams and the IEP team process preferable
      • Understanding of cultural diversity and experience with diverse youth in an urban area
      • Effective communication with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community, staff, etc
      • Creative and effective problem solving skills
      • Detail oriented
      • Bilingual (English/Spanish); Spanish fluency
