Galileo Learning was recently recognized as the #3 medium-sized company in the "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area" awards by the SF Business Times. How did we earn that distinction? As a company that brings educational summer camp programming to 26 Bay Area locations, we constantly bring reminders of the joys of summer camp into our Oakland-based headquarters, from lunchtime talent shows to games and songs kicking off our staff meetings. (The rubber chickens decorating the office help, too!)  At the same time, we are a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial company that strives to foster an environment of professional and personal growth, challenging each staff member toward excellence. Working in our Home Office team of 30+ means joining a close-knit team of high achievers who are passionate about Galileo's mission, which is to help young people discover and pursue their passions and to nurture the careers of current and aspiring educators.

We are currently hiring for 3 different seasonal internal roles in our Oakland Home Office, as well as 2 director-level positions in our camps (including one year-round role). See below or our website, http://corporate-galileo.icims.com, to learn more and apply.

      Recruiting

The recruiting department is looking for two new members to join our seasonal recruiting team!  We are hiring a Phone Interviewer who will review camp staff applications and phone screen candidates to be sent to group interviews.  We are also hiring a Recruiting Coordinator to handle the administrative tasks including managing the candidate interview process, conducting reference checks, and handing all candidate correspondence via phone and email.  Both of these new members will have two training dates in mid December and then start in the office in January of 2011.  The Phone Interviewer will work through May, and the Recruiting Coordinator will stay on through the summer to manage our alternates (substitute camp staff) and wrap up in mid August.

      Customer Service

We are looking for 4 fantastic customer service specialists to work from approximately January – August.  Your main responsibility will be to provide families with excellent customer service by answering incoming calls and enrolling students in camp.  All 4 of these new members will have training December 13-15 and then start in the office in January of 2011. Three FT roles will work 1/3 to 8/13, and one 20-hour per week (9am-1pm M-F) role will work from 1/31 to 7/15.

      Summer Camp Director

Galileo Learning is hiring Camp Directors for the summer 2011 season! We're looking for top notch Camp Directors ready to join an educational movement that is a model of innovative learning in the communities we serve. Our mission is to provide opportunities for young people to discover and pursue their passions, and to nurture the careers of current and aspiring educators. Each Camp Director brings this vision to life everyday at their camp, fostering an environment that is focused, progressive, and incredibly fun.

As most of our current Camp Directors are educators, we structure the position to fit easily around a traditional school calendar. Directors work approximately 5-10 hours per week during the spring, then full-time at camp for 6-9 weeks during the summer. Typical income for a first-year director is $10-13,000.

Tech Camps Director (PT in March, FT/Permanent  in June)

Galileo Learning is also hiring a new Director of The Tech Summer Camps for the summer 2012 season!  We're looking for a top notch Camp Director, ready to join an educational movement that is a model of innovative learning in the communities we serve. Our mission is to provide opportunities for young people to discover and pursue their passions, and to nurture the careers of current and aspiring educators. The Tech Director will take on overall leadership and ownership of the entire program, focusing on marketing, recruiting, and curriculum development in the non-summer months.  In the summer, he/she will bring the camp vision to life everyday, fostering an environment that is focused, progressive, and incredibly fun.

This position with Galileo Learning will begin as a part-time position (10 hours per week) in March 2011, then shift to full-time as the Assistant Camp Director for the duration of summer camp (9 weeks, June through August).  By Sept 2011, all year-round, full-time responsibilities will be completely transitioned, in preparation for the 2012 summer season.
