Join the next generation of outstanding school leaders to drive student achievement and help transform public education. New Leaders for New Schools (www.nlns.org) knows that great schools are led by great principals. The national nonprofit ensures high academic achievement for every student by attracting and preparing outstanding leaders and supporting the performance of the urban public schools they lead. In 10 cities, more than 700 New Leaders now serve some 200,000 students.
New Leaders receive unique preparation to enter the urban principalship. At no cost to them, we provide more than $100,000 in coursework, instruction and support. The first year includes rigorous coursework delivered by nationally recognized experts, a full-time residency with a strong mentor principal, and intensive coaching from successful veteran principals. At the end of the year, we help place New Leaders in urban public schools and provide ongoing support, networking, and a lifelong community of peers.
New Leaders commit to serving in their school districts or charter organizations in a leadership capacity for six years. Residents are paid directly by the school systems for which they work and receive the same salaries and health benefits as assistant principals.
