      Start Date: May 24, 2010

      7- month contract: May 24 – December 2010, with possibility of extension to 12-month

      One-month training/transition period with executive director begins May 24.

      ALICE seeks a managing director, with a strong background in business management and fundraising in nonprofit arts and/or education. The managing director will be responsible for all aspects of finance, and the design and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan, as well as oversight of general administration.

      ALICE seeks someone who can work in a dynamic, collaborative and friendly environment. There are two distinct areas of the organization: professional production of a new performance work, premiering in November, and ongoing education programs in the schools.

      Responsibilities for the professional production include:
      • Developing and carrying out a comprehensive fundraising plan, including a fall fundraiser connected to the production, cultivating potential donors, and recruiting and overseeing fundraising committee
      • Outreach to ALICE network, community groups, organizations and individuals
      • Meeting with potential donors
      • Audience development
      • Managing administrative assistant, community outreach coordinator and marketing consultants
      • Coordinating efforts with executive director
      • Overseeing PR
      • Arranging speaker events

      Responsibilities for the education program and general administration include:
      • Overseeing the fiscal integrity of ALICE
      • Creating and oversee all budgets, including organizational and project budgets, and cash flow projections
      • Managing teaching artists' residencies, including scheduling, contracts, invoicing
      • Working closely with artistic leadership in charting course of ALICE
      • Reporting directly to the board
      • Managing administrative assistant in:
      ⋅ Contracting with and invoicing districts and after-school agency for all residencies and programs, filing necessary paperwork in a timely manner
      ⋅ Providing bookkeeper with all necessary paperwork, including artist payroll, vendor billing, and other financial information
      ⋅ Updating data base systems for mailing list, donor cultivation, and program administration

      Qualifications:
      • Minimum of 2 years experience in non-profit theatre or arts management
      • Successful fundraising experience
      • Minimum of 2 years business management
      • Knowledge of arts education issues
      • Highly organized and able to prioritize
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Experience and confidence as a public speaker
      • Strong people skills
      • Team builder, able to motivate people
      • Skilled in Microsoft Office for Mac and Quickbooks for PC
      • Familiarity with Filemaker Pro and Entourage a plus
