      Product Marketing Manager

       

       

      Description:

      Classroom Connect, a business unit within Harcourt, Inc., is a leading provider of resources that foster successful use of the Internet in K-12 education. The Product Marketing Manager will take the lead role in working with Product Development to define the market need for Classroom Connect products and with Sales to determine the most effective, efficient ways to serve our various customer segments. The Manager will work in a cooperative, lively and creative environment with award-winning products that are highly regarded, innovative, and educationally powerful. The Manager will report to the Director of Product Marketing.

       

      Job Responsibilities:

       

      1. Guide New Product Development

      Based on market information, corporate goals, and resources, recommend and support product development for new and existing products

       

      - Work collaboratively with Product Development to produce educationally sound and highly marketable products, as a member of the core team representing the Marketing function

      - Synthesize market information (primary research, secondary research, etc.) to create Market

      Requirements Documents (MRDs)

      - Monitor Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) to ensure marketability of new product

      - Help to develop discussion guides and provide input on prototypes for testing and attend focus group/user testing sessions

      - Identify and show business case for newly developed and/or third-party products to be added to the product lines

      - Monitor the market issues and trends affecting managed products to inform product development and marketing emphases

       

      2. Develop Product Launch & Marketing Campaigns

      Maximize revenue potential for new and existing products

       

      - Ensure creation and implementation of unified marketing plans to ensure success of product lines

      - Coordinate with Market Research and Marcom to ensure well-informed and unified campaigns

      - Work with Finance and Executive team to develop and communicate pricing for products

      - Manage issues related to providing "whole product" support for all product lines, including professional development, technical support, sales training, third-party relationships, logistics, and publications

      - Identify new funding sources for CC products and develop and implement strategies to exploit these sources

      - Collaborate with channel marketing re: pricing, promotions to increase revenue stream

       

      3. Support Sales Team

      Ensure sales team is prepared to sell new and existing products

       

      - Coordinate with Sales to facilitate field communications, create sales training programs, and develop winning sales strategies

      - Provide sales tools and respond to requests from the field for support materials - presentations,

      Reviewer’s Guides, competitive positioning, etc.

      - Partner with Marcom in the creation of collateral that addresses our customer needs

      - Provide day-to-day support to field and key customers

      - Participate in national trade shows and sales meetings (national and regional)

      - Ensure field and channel input into programs and policies affecting the success of our various products in the market

      - Contribute to ongoing business management for existing product lines

       

      Requirements:

      - B.S./B.A. college degree

      - Direct K-12 teaching experience; 5-10 years K-8 teaching experience preferred

      - 2-5 years experience in sales/product marketing

      - Experience in taking at least one product through the product development life cycle from concept and development through launch

      - Excellent verbal and written communication skills

      - Outstanding analytical abilities

      - Ability to juggle multiple tasks and changing deadlines

      - Ability to work independently, creatively and collaboratively to solve problems

      - Strong attention to detail

      - Familiarity with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email
