Sylvan Education Solutions, the part of Sylvan that sets up learning centers within inner city communities, is hiring in Oakland and San Jose. Be a part of implementing the No Child Left Behind Act by tutoring students who attend under-performing schools.
Tutors will teach vocabulary and comprehension to groups of 6-8 elementary school students. Tutors will assess students, teach students reading concepts, manage classroom behavior and record progress. Training, management and all lesson plans are provided. Excellent program, great management and opportunities for professional growth. We are growing rapidly.
Candidates must have a BA/BS. Teaching certificate or work toward a state credential is required. Experience in K-12 education is a must. Ability to teach English Language Learners and fluency in Spanish preferred. High energy level and flexibility needed. Belief that all kids can learn and positive outlook are essential. Tutors would work for 2-3 hours per day on Mondays through Fridays. Work would start between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m and end 1-3 hours later. Compensation is $20 to $25 per hour.
Positions available in San Jose (near the Bird exit off of 280) and Oakland (near High Street Exit off of 880).
