      Overview:

      The Fisher Fund Public Relations (PR) Team provides tactical and strategic public relations support to our key grantee K-12 education organizations that receive funding from the Fisher Fund, including KIPP and Teach For America. The Fisher Fund team's goal is raising awareness about the mission and track record of grantee organizations both nationally and in the regions they educate young people. This public relations support includes proactive communications outreach to print, TV, and radio media outlets.

      The Fisher Fund PR team strives to be respectful and responsive to client organizations while also building relationships with journalists who cover K-12 education.

      Associate role:
      The Fisher Fund PR team is a small group, and therefore each person, by definition, takes on a range of communications projects. The associate works to execute and manage the ongoing work flow that comes from serving large and geographically diverse clients.

      Main responsibilities:

      Conduct proactive media outreach for Fisher Fund grantees
      o Help to develop, draft, and implement communications plans for regional grantee announcements and media campaigns.
      o Assist other team members to write and edit press releases, letters, talking points, and other materials necessary for communication s outreach.
      o Conduct calls and follow up with clients as directed by the team director to ensure consistent communication and responsiveness to regional sensitivities and needs.
      o Support work for KIPP Foundation leadership team and Teach For America communications team in areas of public relations, including major announcements, media outreach campaigns and on-going communications.
      o Collaborate with Fisher Fund PR team colleges to ensure projects are completed on time.

      Coordinate projects for Fisher Fund PR team director
      o Play the role of coordinator on projects as directed by the team director, including national media outreach campaigns for Fisher Fellows.
      o Problem-solve with the team director when issues arise to reach tenable solutions.

      Requirements:
      o Bachelor's degree required.
      o At least 3 years experience in public relations, preferably in a non-profit, mission-driven environment.
      o Ability to work from an office in San Francisco or New York City is preferred.
      o Ability to think and work independently, and is a self-starter.
      o Proven problem-solving skills and track record for identifying and addressing challenges.
      o Experience working collaboratively with multiple players to build consensus.
      o Ability to handle a high-paced and changing work environment.
      o Superior verbal and written communication skills.
      o Strong team player willing and able to take on multiple tasks and shift projects quickly.
      o Understanding of the education reform landscape—key players and main policy issues.
      o Belief in the mission of KIPP and Teach For America.
