      Envision Schools is currently seeking a highly talented individual to serve as Director of Instruction. This outstanding educator is will be a key member of the Education Team and holds responsibility for professional development of our teachers, refinement of our education model, and instructional leadership for our staff across all four Envision Schools.

      The Director of Instruction will work closely with the Chief Academic Officer and Vice President of Teaching and Learning on the ambitious plan to create a network of highly effective urban schools that create a transformative educational experience for their students by preparing their students for success in college and life.

      Using academically rigorous project-based learning, high stakes performance assessment (College Success Portfolio System) and explicitly teaching and assessing 21st Century Leadership skills along with the college prep academic skills, the Envision Schools educational experience will prepare their students to go to and graduate from a four year college.


      Key Responsibilities

      Fidelity to Our Educational Model: Working closely with school Leadership team, would:
      • Responsible for implementing, supporting, holding to standard, and refining the Envision Schools College Success Portfolio System
      • Ensure implementation of high quality project based learning at all four schools
      • Support and coach teachers towards excellent course maps, unit level backwards mapping, and excellent daily instruction
      • Ensure high quality student exhibitions of learning

      Professional Development: Working closely with the Vice President of Teaching and Learning, would:
      • Plan and implement “best in the sector” professional development to help our teachers advance their teaching practice and our principals improve their instructional leadership
      • Play central role in designing and delivering network wide leadership retreats, huddles, professional development days, and quarterly cycles of inquiry

      Data Driven Coaching and Assessment Coordination
      • Oversee smooth-running administration of all school-wide assessments and standardized tests
      • Work with the Vice President of Teaching and Learning, and the Knowledge Manager to analyze test results and use the date to inform decisions and actions at the network level

      Disseminate Best Practices
      • Identify and spread best instructional practices among the four schools to ensure that we are learning from each others’ success and not reinventing the wheel
      • Document best practices and implementation of the model for use within the organization and to promote external relations

      Essential qualifications:
      • Experience as a high school teacher in an urban district with demonstrated results.
      • Expertise with Project Based Learning, student exhibitions and portfolios strongly desired.
      • Experience leading adult professional development efforts across a multi-site organization.
      • Significant experience using data to achieve academic results
      • Demonstrated commitment to improving urban high schools and driving education reform.
      • A deeply held belief that all children can learn and achieve at high levels regardless of race, ethnicity, or socio-economic background
      • Strong communication skills, both in speaking and in writing
      • Success as a team player and collaborator
      • Comfortable in a start-up environment





      Education:
      • A valid California Teaching Credential or Administrative Services Credential
      • Master’s Degree or Doctorate preferred.

      Salary & Benefits:
