Title: Director, Consumer Market Development
Reports to: Vice President, Marketing
Status: Regular, Full-Time Exempt
Scientific Learning Corporation is a pioneering educational software
company located in the East Bay that integrates cutting-edge
neuroscience with Internet and multimedia software. Our company uses
brain research and patented technologies to increase comprehension
and learning. We develop the Fast ForWord family of learning programs
and Reading Assistant, which allow children and adults to greatly
enhance their language and reading skills.
In partnership with Scientific Learning's Vice President of
Marketing, the Director of Consumer Market Development will manage
one of the most innovative learning programs developed for the at
home learning community. This role will be responsible for building
and launching a Direct to Consumer channel and product portfolio.
Primary responsibilities will be to build awareness, acquire new
customers and build ongoing customer relationships across all
communication channels. Including: brand positioning and strategy,
public relations, web and advertising, integrated marketing
campaigns, lead generation and sales conversion.
Responsible for measuring, analyzing and recommending future strategy
based on market development activities including response
generation, lead conversion, sales conversion, acquisition costs and
customer lifetime value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the strategic market direction and product vision
Customer analysis and segmentation
Overall industry trends
Work closely with product management to develop all market
and product requirements
Launch all offerings
Cultivate the market need for innovative, neuroscience-based
interactive learning programs
Overall brand strategy and positioning
Messaging Architecture and Hierarchy development, ongoing
testing and enforcement across all communication channels
Brand Guides and Creative Guidelines advisement to Creative
Drive awareness generation with integrated marketing campaigns
Online marketing, SEO, viral marketing
Manage local and national media mix and integrate with local
Public relations and advertising
Launch and manage all lead generation campaigns
Market and list segmentation
Relevant messaging and call to action
Own all tracking and ROI analysis with CRM
Management of market development budget
Full budget ownership
Management of cross functional team
Management of vendors or partners who are key to our customer
acquisition and management
Other duties may be assigned.
Required Experience & Education:
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of strategic marketing experience at a
Knowledge of consumer learning market will be a useful but
not essential qualification.
Experience in software industry preferred
Experience starting a new channel desirable
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Advanced project management skills required
BS Degree, preferably with concentration in Marketing. MBA
from a reputable Business School strongly preferred.
