      Dear Friend,
      Galileo Educational Services is looking for outstanding leaders to run summertime educational programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. The candidate application period ends October 15.
      Founded in September 2001, Galileo Educational Service's mission is to provide opportunities for people to discover and pursue their passions. Through collaboration with premier organizations and individuals such as The Tech Museum of Innovation, Klutz, Inc., and astronaut Sally Ride, Galileo Educational Services offers unique, co-branded educational programs to Bay Area families. The company is led by CEO Glen Tripp, the former National Director and VP of Operations at SCORE! Educational Centers. Galileo Educational Services currently operates three programs:
      * Camp Galileo
      Created in partnership with The Tech Museum of Innovation and Klutz, Inc., Camp Galileo offers a unique day camp experience for kids in 1st-7thth grade. Campers engage in hands-on art, science, and outdoor activities in addition to traditional camp standards like daily opening ceremonies and skits. The first Camp Galileo operated in summer 2002 in Palo Alto and served nearly 300 students to rave reviews. Several new locations will be added in 2003.
      * Sally Ride Science Academy
      Developed in partnership with astronaut Sally Ride and her company, Imaginary Lines, this overnight summer program will provide an opportunity for middle school girls to deepen their interest in science, engineering, and technology. The program, launching in summer 2003, will likely be hosted at Stanford University or Mills College and will serve approximately 200 girls.
      * The Tech Museum of Innovation Summer Camps
      The San Jose-based Tech Museum of Innovation is committed to "bringing out the innovator in everyone." Their museum-based summer programs, which serve several hundred elementary and middle school children each year, include web design, digital video editing, medicine, robotics, and astronomy. The Tech has contracted with Galileo Educational Services to operate these programs starting in 2003.
      For each of these programs, we are looking for exceptional Directors who are excited about creating a fantastic experience for their staffs and participating families. Each Director will assume overall responsibility for leadership of the program; recruit, train and manage their team; execute a grassroots marketing campaign; and manage day-to-day operations. Directors will spend 2-5 hours per week preparing during the school year and then will work full-time 4-8 weeks during the summer. Possible profiles could include teachers, school administration leaders, or youth program leaders. We will review candidates through October 15, 2002.
