      EdTec is a growing, private and mission-driven company that provides
      outsourced finance and business services to not-for-profit charter
      schools in California. Currently there are approximately 650 charters
      in the state, teaching close to 200,000 students, and spending
      approximately $1 billion annually. Charters are growing by 10-15%
      annually in students and revenues.

      Our staff shares a commitment to improving public education by
      working with our charter school clients and becoming valuable members
      of our clients' operations.

      Our culture is caring, casual and family-friendly. We have an
      attractive loft office with plenty of natural light, a full kitchen
      with regular potlucks, a foosball table and a Bar-B-Q on a private
      deck. We're located in Emeryville, with good access to BART and free
      street parking.

      We are looking for a business-oriented individual who excels at
      working with clients in diverse organizations. The position involves
      working in partnership with a Senior Client Manager to assist
      multiple charter school clients with their fiscal management and
      compliance of charter school law. As a Business Manager, you will be
      supported by our staff of twenty-five business and education experts,
      including payroll specialists, A/P staff, CPAs, attorneys and MBAs.

      This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter who
      also likes to work within a team environment. Ideally, the business
      manager will share the company's enthusiasm for partnering with our
      clients whose goals are to make a difference in their students' lives.

      Responsibilities include:
      • Prepare budgets, monthly financials statements, including YTD
      income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis
      (including payroll) for 4-5 school clients.
      • Serve as a secondary contact person for 4-5 school clients,
      supporting the Senior Client Manager.
      • Analyze, model, and solve problems for clients on a wide
      range of business issues.
      • Ensure that all school reports and disclosures comply with
      applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and
      organizational policies.
      • Engage in frequent communication with clients, charter school
      boards, the CDE and other state and government agencies.
      • Develop a functional expertise in one or more areas of school
      business operations.
      • Lead special projects including but not limited to drafting
      charter renewals, implementing budget model improvements, and
      updating charter school manuals.

      • 2 to 5 years of work experience, preferably in a related
      • Bachelors in Business or Accounting preferred
      • Strong MS Excel skills and financial modeling (familiarity
      with accounting software a plus)
      • Financial analysis and problem solving skills
      • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
      • Thorough, detail-oriented and quality-conscious multi-tasker
      • Commitment to education and knowledge of charter schools a
      major plus
      • Ability to travel occasionally and work non-standard hours to
      attend board meetings, etc.
