      In 2000, The Chicago Public Education Fund pioneered a venture
      philanthropy model that invests private sector dollars and ideas in
      high-impact programs to improve school leadership and student
      achievement throughout the Chicago Public Schools. As a venture
      philanthropy, The Fund serves as a catalyst and strategic investment
      partner with businesses, foundations, civic and community leaders,
      and the Chicago Public Schools. Our board of directors comprises 27
      of Chicago¡¦s most prominent business and civic leaders whose
      experience, intellectual capital and engagement form the foundation
      for our unique venture philanthropy model that:
      „X Identifies high-quality programs and outstanding management
      teams in which to invest financial and human capital.
      „X Tracks the performance of our investments, provides strategic
      management assistance and leverages the business acumen of our
      directors and management teams to generate results for our
      „X Values collaboration, equity, excellence, innovation,
      integrity and leadership.

      The Fund seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional with
      at least 15 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate
      will have:
      „X Successful track record leading an organization or major
      department to improved performance
      „X Substantial expertise in k-12 education and school reform
      „X Familiarity with philanthropic community, including
      experience with grant-making process
      „X Outstanding written and oral communication skills
      „X Superior analytical skills
      „X Advanced degree in educational leadership, public policy,
      business administration or related field
      „X Demonstrated commitment to underserved children
      The desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment where taking
      initiative, displaying a strong work ethic, paying attention to
      detail, continuing to grow as a professional, and having a
      willingness to cross boundaries and help colleagues are a must.
      Familiarity with the Chicago Public Schools is preferred.

      The Director, Program Investments will report directly to The Fund's
      President and program committee of The Fund's board of directors.
      He/She will manage a small professional staff organized to achieve
      The Fund's programmatic objectives. The Director will be held
      accountable for the following results:
      „X Setting and achieving ambitious programmatic goals
      „X Providing strategic and operational management assistance to
      portfolio programs and CPS leadership
      „X Identifying innovative, high-impact programs for investment
      that align with The Fund¡¦s focus
      „X Cultivating opportunities for collaboration with local and
      national foundations that invest in education
      „X Ensuring that the program committee of the Fund¡¦s board is
      actively engaged in the strategic planning and program investment
      „X Representing The Fund as a knowledgeable and passionate
      spokesperson among business, philanthropic and education leaders
      „X Mentoring and managing a staff of professionals; establishing
      and reviewing performance metrics; hiring, motivating and leading an
      integrated team; and
      „X Adding value to organizational activities such as strategic
      planning, recruiting, etc. as a member of the president¡¦s executive
      leadership team.

      We seek to maintain compensation packages comparable to the private
      sector, commensurate with experience.
