Partners in School Innovation - 2008-2010 School Improvement Fellowship

Partners in School Innovation (PartnersSI) turns around some of the lowest-performing schools in the San Francisco Bay Area by leading them through a rigorous multi-year change process that cultivates effective teaching and bold leadership. We enable schools and districts to create a culture of improvement, characterized by high expectations, clear goals and an unwavering focus on accelerating student learning. PartnersSI currently impacts over 16,000 students, teachers and principals in 14 low-income elementary schools in San Francisco Unified and San Jose Unified School Districts.

PartnersSI is seeking equity-driven and passionate individuals with a strong teaching or education background (at least two years) and deep commitment to closing the achievement gap.  School Improvement Fellows (SIFs) work at schools full-time four days a week and drive our efforts through directly impacting the learning of low-performing students, not as teachers, but as leaders of better teaching.  At the end of each week, SIFs also participate in full-day professional development, where they receive content knowledge and implementation strategies and skills that can be applied back to their work in the schools. Exceptional SIFs may be promoted to carry out more leadership responsibilities in their second year of the Fellowship and to a more senior position within the organization after the Fellowship is completed.
