COORDINATOR, CHARTER SCHOOL OFFICE
Under the direction and supervision of the Director, School Portfolio
Management, and in accordance with charter law, support, monitor and
coordinate all charter schools operating in Oakland; serve as a
liaison between the central office and charter schools.
Support the Superintendent and/or the Board of Education in the
charter petitioning and renewal/non-renewal process.
Draw on the experience of appropriate District personnel
(Instructional Services, Research Assessment and Accountability, etc.)
to ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of Oakland
Within the guidelines of charter law, support and monitor the
instructional programs of the charter schools operating in Oakland.
Manage the integration of charter school accountability measures into
the District's portfolio management system.
Manage all regulatory and compliance aspects of quality charter schools.
Support the continued operation of quality charter schools.
Coordinate the sharing of quality practices among charter and
non-charter District schools.
Provide information regarding charter schools to the Educational
Represent charter schools within the Educational leadership Organization.
Organize and lead school-site visiting teams.
Enhance and sustain relationships among individuals involved with
charter schools, those involved with non-charter district schools and
central office personnel.
Broker relationships between charter schools and OUSD service
organizations that meet the financial needs of the District and meet
the service needs of the charters.
Oversee the development of the standardized processes, template and
Establish goals and performance measures for the office and manage the
charter office team to meet those goals.
Perform related duties as assigned.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent
to: Bachelor's degree in education or related field and seven years of
increasingly responsible experience as an educational leader.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience with and detailed knowledge of charter schools, including
familiarity with applicable state and federal laws desired.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Driver's License.
Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, TB and/or other
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Principals and practices of effective management.

School management and operations
Quality instructional practices and professional development in these
