Named for the famous Antarctic explorer Sir Earnest Shackleton , Shackleton School is an innovative, nonprofit educational venture founded on the belief that learning happens best when students take on demanding projects in fascinating environments, receive personal attention from skilled educators, direct their own learning, and participate in a close-knit and supportive community.

      OUR MISSION AND STRATEGY
Shackleton's mission is to inspire and educate young people to become leaders, educators, community builders, entrepreneurs, and stewards of the earth. To serve this mission, we are creating a family of expedition high schools around the U.S. Our first residential high school opened its doors in 1998 and is now located on a 70-acre farm in Ashby, Massachusetts, about 60 miles from downtown Boston. We plan to expand our program nationally in the next five years once the Ashby school is at full capacity.

      IDEAL CANDIDATE
Shackleton Schools is committed to creating a safe, supportive workplace. We are looking for talented people with the energy and initiative who share our vision and who are committed to building a diverse, collaborative, and nurturing community. We seek self-motivated individuals who have a positive outlook and the professional skills to propel the organization forward. Finally, we are interested in people who are eager to participate in the lives, education, and coaching of students beyond what a job title might reflect.
