The San Francisco Unified School District’s strategic plan, Beyond the Talk: Taking Action to Educate Every Child Now, emphasizes making social justice a reality by diminishing the predictive power of demographics.  SFUSD hires teachers and other credentialed professionals who are committed to closing the existing achievement gap and promoting the success of all students through focused attention on three core areas: Access and Equity, Achievement, and Accountability. We look for teachers committed to delivering rigorous instruction to all students, creating a culturally responsive classroom environment, and building connections with families and the community.

The Superintendent’s Zone is a key part of the district’s strategic plan, keeping our promise to ensure educational equity and the achievement of underserved students.  Superintendent’s Zone Teachers are committed to raising the academic excellence of African-American, English Learner, Latino, Pacific Islander, Samoan, and Special Education students through focused attention on the same three core areas: Access and Equity, Achievement, and Accountability. Teachers deliver a standards-based curriculum and assess student needs consistently in relation to the curriculum objectives. Ongoing pupil progress must be recorded and used to prepare meaningful reports that inform parents of progress. Teachers must maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and implement the school's student management policies and procedures.
