      Operations Manager, Ceiba Public Schools - Watsonville, CA


      Ceiba Public Schools is a nonprofit charter management organization committed to improving college-readiness for historically underserved students. We seek to build exceptional and sustainable public charter schools that close the college completion gap on California's central coast. We believe schools should be more engaging, relevant, inspiring and rewarding than they are today.

      Our first school, Ceiba College Prep Middle, is in its fifth year of operation and currently serves 265 students in grades 6-8. Ceiba has an Academic Performance Index (API) of 845, a 97% parent satisfaction rate, and is ranked #1 of the 100 most demographically similar schools in California. Ceiba Middle School feeds into Ceiba High School, which will serve 180 students in grades 9-11 as it ladders into a 9-12 program. Both schools are located in downtown Watsonville, a small city in southern Santa Cruz County.

      At Ceiba, every student is prepared for college success through the cultivation of creativity, effort, integrity, benevolence, and assertiveness (C-E-I-B-A). Our program is based on explicit and ambitious expectations for student achievement, a small school feel offering personalized attention, an extended school day and school year, a challenging academic course load, and a positive, structured school environment. Ceiba also features after-school activities and high levels of academic support in order to achieve exceptional results.


      Ceiba seeks an Operations Manager to join its dynamic team. The right candidate will have a results orientation, strong financial and analytical skills, and the capacity to manage complex projects, think strategically, and communicate effectively. Reporting to the CEO, the Operations Manager will develop systems, provide direct support for Ceiba schools and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders as the organization increases both its impact and reach.


      Specific responsibilities include:

      Designing, deploying and maintaining the organization's financial, human resources, facilities management, special education and technology platforms.
      Supporting future growth with analysis and evaluation of financial models, academic achievement data, market dynamics, management capacity and business plans.
      Provide support to the CEO and Board of Directors in the strategic planning process including assisting with the development of business plans and financial models as well as all legal and regulatory filings.
      Researching and preparing for future expansion of the Facilities to accommodate growth of the Schools and working with contractors to ensure timely completion.
      Assisting the CEO in the development and execution of grantor and fundraising opportunities.

      Strong strategic thinking, communication and creative problem solving skills
      Demonstrated skills in financial modeling, analysis of financial statements and growth projections
      Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build effective systems and strong relationships
      Strong project management experience and a passion for detail that drives efficiency and excellence in all aspects of work
      Ability to work seamlessly between high-level strategy and detail oriented work
      5-7 years of work experience, preferably including education management, consulting or similar experience
      An advanced degree, preferably an MBA
      Passion for building an exceptional (fun, inspiring, motivational) student environment where parents are involved and students take responsibility for their education
      Bilingual Spanish preferred
