      General Summary:

      The Assistant Director of Human Capital supports the Director with the oversight of the Human Capital Team. Overseeing Employee Service Center, this position manages sound HR processes, policies, and the delivery of programs and services that help make Aspire a great place to work. Some of these key services include new hire processing & onboarding, benefits and compensation, workers comp, leave of absence, and other programs. This position help lead the planning and execution of HR practices, ensuring state and federal compliance and fair employment practices that are well communicated throughout the organization. Acts as a thought partner within the team and across departments.



      • Oversees the Employee Service Center, which includes many of the core HR processes such as: Onboarding/New Hire Processing, Benefits, Workers Comp, and Leave & Disability Administration, Tuition Reimbursement, EDD Claims, Independent Contractors, etc.
      • Supervises and cross trains staff to create an effective one stop shop for general HR inquiries and support.
      • Conducts audits to guarantee the accurate and timely entry of data and reporting.
      • Oversees process improvement, documentation, systems, personnel file management and infrastructure that drive HR processes.
      • Provides guidance and consistency in HR policy and procedure decisions ensuring state and federal compliance.
      • Develops, administers and evaluates programs or projects, including employee appreciation and compensation
      • Conducts research as appropriate to projects or initiatives within the work unit.
      • Responsible for interacting and developing partnerships with other departments and work units in order to attain department goals and objectives.
      • Supports the director with planning, staffing decisions and other key area, serving as back-up in the absence of department director or other supervisory personnel.
      • Serves as a liaison to meet departmental goals and program requirements.
      • Provides training, coaching, and consultation to all levels of employee, coordinating training/education efforts that help employees better understand processes and services.
      • Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with Aspire Team Members at all levels of the organization.
      • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

      1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
      • Strong knowledge of core HR functions, including benefits and compensation, leave & disability, workers compensation claims
      • Knowledge of employment state and federal laws and regulations.
      • Knowledge of supervisory training techniques.
      • Knowledge of methods of planning, developing, and administering programs.
      • Comprehension of staffing requirements and training necessary for the accomplishment organizational goals.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Excellent interpersonal skills; proven experience working with various levels
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to lead multiple projects and still meet all deadlines.
      • Dealing with a "fast-paced" environment and ability to `roll up sleeves' to get the job done.
      • Demonstrated high attention to detail
      • High proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel/ PowerPoint
      • Proven experience using various HR systems
      • Exemplifies Aspire values and high levels of integrity and humility, and interest in Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior

      2) Minimum educational level:
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the Human Resources field
      • Master's Degree in Human Resources of related field preferred

      3) Experience required:
      • 5 years of proven track record in the HR field, managing key HR system and processes
      • 3 of supervisory experience, with an emphasis on leading and developing other HR professionals
      • Familiar with a variety of the HR concepts, practices, and procedures.
      • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
