Peer Health Exchange ("PHE"), is a national non-profit organization that gives teenagers the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions. We do this by training college students to teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public high schools that lack health education. Since our founding in 2003, we have trained more than 4,000 college student volunteers to deliver effective health education to over 40,000 public high school students in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area. We recently completed our next major strategic plan with the help of New Profit, Inc. and the Monitor Group, two significant investors. The plan has three major priorities--deepening impact, investing in more robust program evaluation, and developing and testing additional methods for impact, all while serving 120,000 teens over the next four years. To achieve these priorities, we will grow from a staff of 28 and a budget of $3MM today to a staff of over 100 and a budget of $14MM in 2015.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The primary responsibilities of the PHE National Director of Talent will be to oversee the quality of all aspects of PHE talent, including talent acquisition, retention, and development policies and processes, and to work closely with senior management to develop, implement, and strengthen PHE's human capital strategy. The Director of Talent reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
The PHE Director of Talent will oversee the quality of all aspects of PHE talent by:
Serving as a key organizational thought leader on attracting, developing, and retaining best-in-class talent
Developing targeted capability to identify and engage high performing individuals and stimulate their interest in PHE
Developing, revising, and managing PHE's publicity, hiring, and on-boarding processes, procedures, and materials for all PHE staff members
Developing and overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive performance management system for all PHE staff members
Coordinating all professional development programs and opportunities and succession planning
Serving as a resource to supervisors in addressing management challenges
Managing all HR administration including new hire and termination processes, compensation assessments and practices
Recruiting, selecting, and managing an HR Associate to assist in HR administration
Assisting the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer as a key member of the National Management Team
PHE is looking for a dynamic, driven leader who:
Has strong passion for PHE's mission to give teenagers the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy decisions
Has a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; MBA or Master's degree in a related field preferred
Has more than five years of progressively increasing talent management experience, including knowledge of human resources systems, compensation and benefits, for a growing, multi-site organization
Has excellent management skills including the ability to inspire, motivate, influence, and hold staff accountable to significant standards
Has experience leading, planning, and managing in an entrepreneurial and growing organization
Has demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage business systems and processes, including budget development
Has exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Has excellent organizational skills and extreme detail-orientation
Exercises excellent judgment in decision-making
