  • I've been using Dropbox for some time now to help keep my desktop and laptop computer versions of Editplus synced. Here's how... There are only a few programs that I really, really love using and am willing to pay for. Editplus is of course one of those, but another is SecondCopy. On my PC I set up an automatic one-way copy of my Editplus folder to a Dropbox folder, so later when I...

  • I tried the free UltraEdit trial, and it does the backup files the right way, so I might be switching to it. I'll wait a couple days to see if Editplus will get fixed. http://johnclarkcraig.com On Tue, Oct 21, 2014 at 8:25 AM, John C Craig < jccraig@^$1 > wrote: Hi Anita. Yes, I'm using Open Remote. • Hi Anita. Yes, I'm using Open Remote. That works very well and I love it. But I'm still not sure how to automatically save a copy on my local computer at any location I choose, instead of where Editplus tells me I have to save it. http://johnclarkcraig.com On Mon, Oct 20, 2014 at 12:11 PM, Anita Gangal a_gangal@^$1 [editplus] < editplus@^$2 > wrote: The workaround I have is. • I'm using the Editplus FTP editing of files directly accessed on our many websites, and it works great. However, Editplus won't let me save local backup copies where I need to save them. Instead, it forces me to save them in a local folder with the main domain's name. This is causing us to have three copies of our website files, one on the server, one where everyone else in the...

  • Thanks for the suggestion. Sangil and I have back-and-forthed several emails so far to see if we can get this resolved. The frustrating detail for me is that everything worked great before I installed 3.70, but ever since I get Sockets errors when I wade into a subdirectory in the FTP access tree list. This happens even after I carefully reinstalled 3.60, making sure I reboot after...

  • Serious FTP issues today after installing 3.70. I tried 64 bit version first, had FTP failures. Then installed 32 bit version. Same thing. Then uninstalled everything, reinstalled 3.60, rebooted, and still had the problems. Very frustrating, as I depend on Editplus for my work right now. Not sure what else to try to get back to usability. Windows 7 here, with all the latest updates...

  • I don't have a direct answer, but I'm so happy with something I discovered that has the side effect of solving your problem that I thought I'd pass it along. I got Second Copy a while back. I have two programs I've paid for and love, EditPlus and Second Copy. They are both easy to use and they both do a really superior job at what they're designed for. I use Second Copy for all my...

  • I have text files with slanted quotes, em-dashes, and a few other special characters. I need to convert them to straight ASCII, so for example the slanted quotes at each end of a quoted sentence are straight and the same. This should be easy in Editplus, but how to do it eludes me. I did find out how to load my text file into Word and re-save with special settings, and I even found...

  • I love Editplus, and have been using the zen coding feature since it was added to the previous version. If you use Editplus for HTML/CSS coding you really should take a close look at it. Now that I have Editplus 3.5 I checked, and no, there's still no supporting documentation in the Help files for zen coding. I took the time to pull together a complete set of documentation on zen...

  • I duplicated the problem here, so I see what you're talking about. I think it has something to do with using Alt-c to select the text. I changed that in my macro to something different and it started working correctly. After finding what you want to copy, press the left arrow just once to get the cursor just to the left of the stuff to select. (That effectively de-selects the item...
