I am having trouble with a keystroke recording, in that the actual copied test is permanently saved in the keystroke recording instead of accepting each new CTRL C selection. It never changes to the next selected text. If I use EditPlus to look at an export of the keystroke recording I see the actual first text that was pasted in the recording. I need it to follow the keystrokes and paste the new copied text into the Replace dialog box each time not used saved text from the time the keystroke recording was created.

I have 6,000+ lines of text in identical format. I need to go to each line and select and copy the data between the first less than sign "<" and the next greater than sign ">" and then select the rest of the line and replace every occurrence of a word with the data I first copied.

The only problem I have is that instead of the keystroke recording "ctrl c" placing each new lines text in the Replace dialog box the keystroke recording is using the original copy and paste from the time I first create it on line one.

Below are two sample lines of text (in reality they are hundreds of characters long and do not wrap):
      <TAG 467 Account 95268>~BOX 46-05-16 ~BOX 42-15-126 ~BOX 12-15-67
      <TAG 035 Account 24564>~BOX 876-05-56 ~BOX 49-18-17 ~BOX 16-10-71 ~BOX 36-55-13 ~BOX 97-17-17

After running my keystroke recording I should end up with:
      <TAG 467 Account 95268>~BOX 46-05-16 <TAG 467 Account 95268>~BOX 42-15-126 <TAG 467 Account 95268>~BOX 12-15-67
      <TAG 035 Account 24564>~BOX 876-05-56 <TAG 035 Account 24564>~BOX 49-18-17 <TAG 035 Account 24564>~BOX 16-10-71 <TAG 035 Account 24564>~BOX 36-55-13 <TAG 035 Account 24564>~BOX 97-17-17

Below I attempted to show my sequence of recorded keystrokes:

at the beginning of the first line press "ALT SHIFT B" press "Alt F3" press "delete key" type > press "Alt F" press "Alt F4" press "ALT SHIFT B" press "CTRL C" press "RIGHT ARROW" "RIGHT ARROW" press "ALT SHIFT B" press "END" press "ALT SHIFT B" press "CTRL H" press "ALT S" press "ALT i" press "delete key" type ~BOX press "Alt E" press "delete key" press "CTRL V" type ~BOX press "ALT A" press "Alt F4" press "END" press "Alt F3" press "delete key" type < press "Alt F" press "Alt F4" press "LEFT ARROW"

Can anyone help? I am only having trouble with the keystroke recording not adding the "new" copied text to the Replace dialog box each time I run it on a line.

jaustill Perhaps you could do this with regular expressions. Try something like this: find: (.*) ~(.*) replace with: 2 1~ 3 You would have to do

        find: <(.*)>(.*) ~(.*)
        replace with: <\1>\2 \1~\3
You would have to do this several times, until EditPlus says that the number of replacements was zero.
