find (and remove) are all 8 characters in length. The first and

apologize if you have seen this twice)

Is it possible in EditPlus to do a search and replace if you do not
know the exact string? I want to remove some unwanted strings that
are all 8 characters in length. The first and last character(s) of
each string are always the '<' character and the '>' character
respectively. All characters in between the '<' and the '>' are
integers from 0 to 9. This is not an HTML document. Any help in
knowing how to do this would be appreciated!

Try this make sure reg exp is checked, then replace with whatever you wish. This will find multiple numbers within tags. -- John h Within EditPlus,

Try this <[0-9]+> make sure "reg exp" is checked, then replace with

you can always use reg expressions. although it s not full regex you can use this while this is greedy it will find the 8 digit strings as well

you can always use reg expressions.

although it's not full regex you can use this <[1234567890]+>

while this is greedy it will find the 8 digit strings as well as 4 digit and 10
digit... if you only have 8 digit strings to worry about and nothing else that
matches this pattern this should work fine.

I actually haven't used regular expressions much, so I may be showing my
ignorance here but if he has 4 digit or 10 digit sequences in <> that he
does NOT want to replace, would this work to restrict it to just 8 digit
                      sequences?

                      <[1234567890][1234567890][1234567890][1234567890][1234567890][1234567890][12

you can always use reg expressions.

although it's not full regex you can use this <[1234567890]+>

while this is greedy it will find the 8 digit strings as well as 4 digit and
                      10
digit... if you only have 8 digit strings to worry about and nothing else
                      that
matches this pattern this should work fine.

You can do this with regular expressions. I m sure someone will post the exact expression you ll need, but if you do a google search for Regular Expressions

apologize if you have seen this twice)

Is it possible in EditPlus to do a search and replace if you do not
know the exact string? I want to remove some unwanted strings that
are all 8 characters in length. The first and last character(s) of
each string are always the '<' character and the '>' character
respectively. All characters in between the '<' and the '>' are
integers from 0 to 9. This is not an HTML document. Any help in
knowing how to do this would be appreciated!
