I'm sure you all know that NASA is planning to smash an 800 Lb.
Object into Comet Temple 1 at 23,000 miles per hour tonight.
Impact should occur at 10:52 PM Arizona Time.
The link below will take you to the National Optical Astronomy
Observatory web site for this event. The Images shown will be
constantly refreshed before, during, and after tonight's impact.
This is a live feed tonight. Check it out.
I was so delighted to be invited up to the Kitt Peak observatory to
view the event tonight.
Those of you who are East of the Mississippi river will not be able
to view this event as the comet will have set by the time of
impact. West of the Mississippi, we will have a slight chance to
see it through binoculars or small telescopes however it will only
be 20 degrees up in the sky so it will be tough, and almost
impossible from bright cities.
Enjoy the show. Nobody really knows what we might see but it will
probably be just a brief brightening of the comet over the next few
days...however the images from Kitt Peak and from the spacecraft
itself should be amazing.
