      Hi Mallory.

While your initiative in looking for clinical sites is commendable, my experience in 30+ years in echocardiography (mostly in the US and partially in the Chicago area) is that all accredited, reputable schools have provisions and contracts that ensure that they will have useful clinical sites where their students get to observe and practice performance of Echo with registered echocardiographers.

I would strongly suggest that you assess whether the program you are in is properly structured and credentialed or whether you should look to start over or continue at another program.

As a secondary alert and reminder to all, on a professional site such as this it is appropriate to sign your postings with both your name and your affiliation.

Best wishes in your studies and your career,

      Good Day All,
I am currently in an echo program in a south suburb of Chicago, IL. We have been running into some issuse with finding clinical sites, so I decided to take things into my own hands. My class will begin clinical rotations this summer and I would love the opportunity to shadow a few hours a week(more would be great). I have worked as sonography assistant for quite some time so I can bring patients back, get them changed, put their profile into the machince, etc. I am also willing to do whatever else to take some of the "weight off of the tech's back" if I can. I am looking for someone to take me under their wing and show me the "ins" and "outs" of the field. I know it can be frustrating training a new tech, but I would appreciate your assistance greatly even if there's a price tag on your expertise.

      Thank You In Advance,
      A Tech In Training
