              Dear Friends of Bartholomew Faire,
The middle of summer in Phoenix can be a tad toasty, so we invite you to enjoy "An Evening with Hildegard" on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 7 pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (in sunny downtown Phoenix: Central avenue and Roosevelt).
Discover and experience the music, visions, cures and poetry of Hildegard of Bingen, one of the most remarkable people of the twelfth century.  She was an abbess, advisor to kings and popes, author of one of the oldest herbals, painter of illuminated manuscripts, and one of the most famous sufferers of migraine headaches.  At the heart of her legacy are some 70 works of music which transcend the idiomatic scope of contemporary medieval chant.
Presenting on Friday will be Hildegard scholar Charlotte Miller, a former pupil of medieval music scholar Alejandro Planchart.  Charlotte will be assisted by exquisite soprano Jennifer Lindshield, fresh from her studies in Italy, and local early music specialist/multi-instrumentalist Stefan Dollak, director of Bartholomew Faire.
Of course, Trinity Cathedral is the ideal place for a presentation such as this: the acoustics are complementary to Hildegard's distinctive melodies, the parking is ample and free, and the a/c is quiet and effective.  A $20 donation is requested.
We hope to see you there!  Call Charlotte with your questions at 602 578 0398.

        Hi Stefan,

Sorry that we were unable to attend last night's 'Hangin with Hildegard" performance.  Hope all went well.  When will Bartholomew Faire be giving a performance again?  Sure miss the Early Music Society!
