- RI officers invited to attend third annual reunion
The 2006 Past Officers' Reunion (POR) will be held at the Shelter
Pointe Hotel in San Diego, California, USA, from 19-21 February and
will coincide with the RI International Assembly, slated for 16-23
February at the San Diego Manchester Grand Hyatt. The meeting is open
to any Rotarian who has previously served as an RI officer, including
district governors, presidents, and trustees.
The reunion was originally planned to fill the void left three years
ago when RI stopped organizing the RI Institute event, which ran in
conjunction with the International Assembly. This year's reunion
theme, "Back to the Boathouse," looks to the first RI Institute
hosted on a Lake Placid boathouse in New York, USA.
The event program includes meetings with RI President Carl-Wilhelm
Stenhammar, as well as with President-elect William Boyd and the
president-nominee. Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Frank Devlyn and a
number of other trustees are also scheduled to participate. RI staff
members will be on hand to discuss the organization's latest
Last year's "Centennial POR" attracted eight past and present RI
presidents, 34 past and present RI directors, eight past and present
Foundation trustees, as well as approximately 300 past and present
officers representing 27 countries and 28 U.S. states.
Registration is US$140 and $90 for guests. The fee includes a Sunday
night reception, Monday evening banquet, and two full days of
informational and motivational meetings. As of press time, Shelter
Pointe Hotel room rates are $130 during the reunion.
