  • Rich: I am happy with the HyGain HyTower Junior for the QS1R and Skimmer Server but it is more obtrusive in one's backyard than the 6BTV. It isn't resonant on 160 or the WARC bands but the SWR is reasonable and it does quite well on them. Of course, I use an 11 db preamp and low loss coax. • What a difference a year makes! First an apology. Of all the nights for Verizon to turn off the fiber optic line to the house for two hours, Saturday night was the wrong night. Of course they changed the IP address so users who were using a numerical address instead of cw.wz7i.com were unable to reconnect. I apologize. I think I have found a computer system appropriate for running...

  • Folks: Especially if you shift to 192 khz band pass, you may need to modify the CW Segments portion of your SkimSrv.ini file. Dumb me! I couldn't figure out why I had a gap between 7.035 and 7.045 with no spots in between and nothing above 14.07. Wes, WZ7I [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

  • Some of the telnet users of my Skimmer receiver prefer that it run in "Normal" call validation during the week and then change to "Aggressive" validation during contest periods on the week-end. I sometimes forget to make that change. I have found simple AutoHotKey mouse movement scripts useful for changing frequency bands as propagation changes during the day and I have recently...
