  • This will happen on a slow machine. I have a Pentium 2Ghz machine that will do this in just about the exact way he describes. And if the sound card is fed by USB, it’s far worse. The appetite for CPU by Skimmer is huge. At least, huge by older PC standards. 73, Jeff ACØC www.ac0c.com From: Pete Smith Sent: Thursday, December 02, 2010 7:17 PM To: dxatlas_group@^$1 Subject: Re...

  • Steve, Lot more interoperability being squeezed out of skimmer than what it was designed with. A bit tough without that capability as part of the original feature set so most guys have to work around this and that as Alex is understandability not wanting to do a lot to the code on this older project. New fish to fry and all that... Oh, I should have said more properly "Skimmer...

  • Telnet is how LP speaks to Skimmer. No telnet, no correction. 73/jeff/ac0c www.ac0c.com From: Steve Ellington Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2010 9:20 PM To: dxatlas_group@^$1 Subject: Re: [dxatlas] Re: CW Skimmer Audio IF frequency changes on its own What does Telnet and Audio IF correction have in common? Sounds like 2 separate projects to me. Steve ----- Original Message...

  • Very nice layout Jeff. The Clifton Labs stuff is top notch and complement your layout very nicely. Good luck! 73/jeff/ac0c From: jmaass_moose Sent: Sunday, April 11, 2010 1:52 PM To: dxatlas_group@^$1 Subject: Re: [dxatlas] "Skimmer Server" with QS1R Receiver Yes, I've seen that. The SRL 2 Amp supply is in the plans. Here's a link to my first-cut block diagram of our proposed...

  • The cpu load of skimmer is dependent on the number of decoders running. If you limit the number of decoders, then the number of sessions you can run is pretty high. I have 7 running on a 3.8G core 2. But the purpose of that box is more of dx spotting and to let me know when bands are open. Which means the number of decoders is only high on 20m. However, that assumes casual traffic...

  • Zack, The fact is CW as a communication method is a dying art. So the more guys that can find enjoyment in this mode, the better it is for the hobby. Regardless of what method brings you to the mode - the fact you have found it fun is really what radio is all about. I feel the debate around skimmer is nonsense. As you point out, there were plenty of other game changers before...

  • Bert, May I suggest the HRD digital modes program DM780? This provides an AF-based waterfall that is very helpful to use in optimizing tuning. It's one of the many things I use DM780 for which is the centerpoint of my station. And in addition to that, it provides full 2-way capability for just about every digital mode known, in addition to CW. The functionality and beauty are...

  • Peter, No, just here at my QTH. And just feeding to my local network. The spots are not of high enough quality to publish - I just don't have that much confidence in my system. Rick K4TD's system - well, that's how the big boy professionals do it. Really fantastic setup he has. 73/jeff/ac0c Pete Smith wrote: > > > Are you talking a geographically- distributed network, or all at one...

  • Iain, Wow, that looks like a winner!!! I will ask Dave about the max number of feeds. But in the documentation it does not seem there is a limit mentioned. 73/jeff/ac0c Iain MacDonnell - N6ML wrote: > > > > > Jeff Blaine wrote: > > In a extensive multi-skimmer configuration, we could end up with > perhaps > > 10 skimmer telnet servers. > > > > Is there an application that would...
