      Meet Lesley Tennessen!
Dutch Oven Diva...named by my older sister after a white water rafting trip in West Virginia!
I learned my outdoor cooking 'trade' after being handed 6 unseasoned dutch ovens so long ago at Girl Scout camp. I was one of the outdoor trainers, and I got blessed with the care and maintenance. Not one to let a challenge go by, I learned by trial and error and soon figured it out! Any class I was teaching with dutch oven food involved became the most crowded class in camp!
After a few training expeditions to visit sister Girl Scouts in Texas, I learned about the big world of Dutch Oven Cooking out there. After that, it all started to fall in place with gatherings, meeting other kindred spirits and having great food! In 2008, after attending the Midwest Dutch Oven Gathering held in Iowa, a few of us got back together and resurrected the old Northwoods chapter, now known as Blackhawk Dutch Oven Cooks!
My favorite dishes to cook are Apple Pie, bread and chocolate desserts! I like to experiment with different flavors and flavor profiles. The best part of cooking is cooking with friends, especially at a Dutch Oven Gathering.
And my best Ah Ha moments come when I'm teaching some one new to black pot cooking and they 'get it' and teaching kids in scouting how to.
Lesley is not a member of the IPRC, however, she has been instrumental in helping us "behind the scenes" with contacting vendors and sponsors! We are grateful for her help! You'll see her all over Walnut Acres and can be identified by her pink flamingos! Be sure to say hello!

Dutch Oven 101 anyone? Meet Wayne Van Mersbergen who
lives in Pella, Iowa and works at Vermeer Corporation as a training and development specialist. Wayne is a great speaker and will be helping us with D.O. 101 demos this year!
Married for 41 years and have 12 grandchildren
Got interested in Dutch Oven cooking about 12 years ago after seeing a workshop demonstration. Ron Groenendyk was helpful with cooking ideas. 10 years ago bought my first Dutch Oven and accessories and started using it for cooking, especially while camping, but have also used it for group meals, special events, high school food preparation class and fund raising auctions
My specialty is a Dutch Oven pizza. This is approximately 1 to 1.5 inches thick, depending on what is used for ingredients. I have also won first place in a Dutch Oven cookout with a main dish called Meatloaf Flower.

Meet Greg Jacobs! Greg will be doing a Demo for us this year, Cooking with Vocanos!
I've been cooking since I was very young, but cooking with only cast iron since 1972
One of my hobbies is historical reenacting, so cooking with cast iron dutch ovens is a big part of that!
I've been doing that since 1988.
Various chicken dishes are my favorite to prepare, but since it's a daily learning process, I work on different dishes all the time.
