      Hi Mark

Thank you for your kind words about the images. I do not think the image you have described is one of ours - in fact, I am more or less certain. I've even looked at the Peto collection since the date would be right for one of his visits to Dundee. It might be worth getting in touch with the Local History Centre directly, in case the image isn't part of Photopolis - and also the City Archives.

Sorry couldn't have been of more help.

      Michael

      These images are superb Michael.

I'm actually trying to find an image of Shore Terrace, Dundee taken
around 1959 in B/W. The image was used in an "Old Dundee" Calendar a
couple of years back (my mother has the Calendar).

It was taken from the corner of Crichton Street/Shore Terrace and the
shot looks east along Shore Terrace, looking along the front of the
old City Arcade, and shows fruit/veg. stalls etc. by the roadside.

What interests me particularly about it, is that my Grandfather is
actually in front of the shot, walking westwards along Shore Terrace
towards the camera, complete with cigarette in hand, amongst the
      other (mainly women) shoppers.

Unfortunately, my Mother is seriously ill in hospital ATM, and I
can't ask her too much about it.

I know that the image exists in at least 1 Photographic archive,
(I've searched Dundee City Council's Photopolis and SCRAN but to no
      avail).

Any help/advice would be gratefully received.

      Best Regards
      Mark Henderson

My Grandfather is in the centre-left of shot wearing the long
raincoat, white shirt and dark tie, holding his Senior Service
cigarette in his left-hand. Looks like my Grandmother just to the
left in front of him wearing the pale coat, hat and specs, but she
died in 1971 so there are few photos of her, and there's no one
really left who remembers her then.
