      You can see a photo and information on the Salvation Army Hostel on
      the Galleries section of the Doon the Toon site listed on the links
      page. According to the information there - 'This was originally
      the "Duncan Institute" which was the first organised Industrial
      School in Dundee. It was occupied as the Girl's Industrial School
      until 1896 when the new school was opened at Balgay, Blackness Road.
      From that time it was unoccupied until 1900, when the building was
      aquired by the local branch of the Salvation Army and changed into
      the "Salvation Army Home and Metropole for Women" '
