Group Description

THis is a support & information venue for those with the uncommon genetic skin condition called disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis (DSAP). It is believed to be an immune system disorder, manifested and/or exacerbated by exposure to sunlight, or other damages to skin. THe amt. and severity usually increases with time.
Because of the difficulties of finding one another publicly, here we can at least meet virtually. We talk about treatments that haven't worked, so others can avoid spending thousands on useless treatments. Our database (and archives) include those treatments. Please view them. We also discuss alternative therapies,"home" remedies, coverups, lotions, diet, and the social issues of having these red spots which are often very rough, numerous, and unsightly.

Those who do not have Dsap are welcome to join IF they are related to someone with it, have a very similar skin condition, or are an involved and interested health care professional.
No offers of services or testimonials/ads for products allowed! If you've posted before, you can post about a product, but cannot give links to a salesperson.

PLEASE take pictures of your Dsap now, and post them on our Photos page, or at least keep them for your own records. It's frustrating to you and to other members to not know exactly how well a treatment worked, since many treatments cause the spots to look worse before better. Also, some people have only a few spots, whereas others have hundreds. It's impossible to qualify results of a treatment, coverup, or lotion when all we have to go on is one's perception of how "bad" they look(ed). Pics allow everyone to privately discern the difference between their condition or results...and someone else's.
