      Hi,

I'm trying to figure out if there's some undocumented feature in the Parts Assembler .ini file that would let me set a background reference image to use when putting together a model.

If not, is there a "best practice" that other folks typically use to get a reference image into their workspaces?

It's easy enough to create a rectangular part with my reference image on it, and add it to the model, but I can only see the image in the camera view, which makes it tricky to line things up.

      Thanks,

      Dave

You can manually set the camera values to force a given perspective. I ve used that from time to time.

I was lost on that question (on my way to work right now)
but with time it will sink in.
The Parts Assembler module for the L3 Updated version
has a setting to show the background inside the
preview window (Before the actual render)
while you're still building your multi-part objects.

          -----------------------------------------

Off topic: hang tight, folks... soon I will upload a whole
gang of new animated effects textures to my Mega cloud
with download links posted here so that y'all can grab 'em
and enjoy these new textures (Explosions, Fire, Water, Clouds,
Smoke trails, and more to come as I encounter or create them).

I had recently discovered a program known as TimelineFX
and I've barely started learning how to use it.
          http://www.rigzsoft.co.uk/

...I grabbed some of the samples from the program and
modified a few of them for our use with DoGA.

TimelineFX will render the output as Sprite sheets for
games, and as animated (sequential) .PNG images,
in any image size small or large....
...on that note, I'm starting to use high-res (1024x1024)
texture images for my DoGA projects.
I'm done with the old classic L3's 256 and 512 textures.
As in, "Look mom, no more pixel edges!" lol

My upload will be a very large collection complete with high-resolution
transparent sequential .PNG images and sample videos of
each of the new effects as they will appear in DoGA renders.
The effects will also include text file info such as resolution and frame count,
and tips on how to apply them to objects in DoGA.

If I post the actual files (in .rar folders) Here they would kill our
Yahoogroup storage space. This is why I must use my
Mega cloud so they'll be easy to download.
I'll have the collection ready by this coming holiday weekend.
          Cheers!

          -Tony
