I've just now managed to download all of the 007 and 008 updates
for L3 (loud sigh of Relief).
I'll keep these as I migrate to newer machines.
I still plan to create that whoppin .rar package I mentioned earlier.

Last month while I was still using Windows XP sp3 I discovered
something cool about the VP8 codec.
It works similar to WebM, and is much better quality than the
ordinary WMV and AVI codecs.

The VP8 codec was installed in my system with a bunch of other
codecs I use for viewing videos and movies offline.
One night while rendering some 100-150 frame-count DoGA renders
I used the VP8 compression, and set the resolution to a large size...
...the rendering was fast, considering my laptop only had 1.25gb
of memory installed and it has an old P4 single core processor.
The video quality was crispy clean, so much better that I made a
screensaver with the rendered video...

I'm now on a newer desktop machine, and I'll soon start using
the VP8 compression again for more projects.

No matter how many video codecs you have installed in your
system, L3 will be able to detect them all and add them to its
list of Compression options when you're ready to render your work

A few nights ago I was able to download the four L3 setup exe files from the
Project Team DoGA website (whew!)... the L3 701-807 files.

Right now I have to leave for work, and I have the four exe files zipped
in a .rar folder measuring 80mb; it's gonna take about 20 minutes to
upload to a file host, but I have to leave for work right now...

I get off work after midnight; as soon as I get home I will upload
those L3 files which include the 701 backgrounds and textures setup,
and all the update files which include the current version.
I will upload them to my folder at Mediafire, and I'll post a
download link here so that you and others can have these files.
Check back here tonight or tomorrow morning for the link.

Then I will upload the new L3 backgrounds which I spoke up.

(Just got home from work. Now to begin uploading and linking
L3 and all the other stuff I had recently discovered.)

Todd, I hear you. I guess then it must have been a bad connection at my end.
My browser misdirected me to Yahoo-Japan when I clicked on those
download links at the DoGA JP site.
The other night, I was finally able to download all those main
installers and files.

But still, it's been almost eight years since the previous L3 updates;
and it made me wonder if the developers may have had thrown in
the towel or had went inactive for an indefinite time.

Although DoGA can still run on the old openGL and d3d standards
that technology is becoming so dated now that newer computers
with faster cores are supporting technologies such as DirectX 11 and up,
as well as other new video/graphics technologies.

As for Metasequoia, it's now 'owned' by a company called "Tetraface"(?).
Could that be a new company, or is it O. Mizno's new domain?
The latest version (4.5.1; and EX) includes features such as
Exporting/Importing objects as .STL files for 3D print; SVG import; Morphing;
and high quality rendering by Renderman, and so many other new advanced
features. A $45 registration fee via PayPal will unlock all advanced features
of the latest versions of the Metasequoia program.

I plan to register for the latest Metaseq version. I'm curious to see how
morphed objects would work in DoGA as .SUF files...
...if that is to be the case, then DoGA "L4" should be about due with
an upgrade to "bone" and "morph" structure animation similar to
that of Blender. (Jeez, as if I don't have a hard enough time learning
how to use 3DStudio Max! lol)
DoGA is due an overhaul, no matter what, so that it will support
OSes Win7 and up (Microshaft is already pushing Win10 on us).

L3 Backgrounds 2015, file size: 119mb

...this set includes all new backgrounds for L3, I had organized them
into different folder categories.
Use Winrar to unpack and place the images into your default
L3 backgrounds folder.
Some of these backgrounds range in large sizes, the larger the image size
the higher the resolution.
Some of them appear to have been made with a Japanese background
creator known as "Backfactory"...

...Use Winrar to unpack these LZH folders and place them into your
main L3 installation folder.
For Windows Vista and up, open their executables with Administrator's Rights.
If the Backfactory program is 'blocked' by your system, you can unblock them
by rightclicking the .exe icon's Properties and click the Unblock button
in the General tab.
Then go to the Compatibility tab and checkbox "Open with Administrator's Rights",
and you're all set.

About "Backfactory"... it works similar to L3's Background Converter, but with
some crazy sophisticated features to make the background Plane or Spherical
somewhat, with effect layers, whatever- the program is in Japanese (oh, great!).
You'll just have to open an image into it and play with it to become familiar
with the buttons and features.
I don't have the patience and know-how to edit Backfactory in Visual Basic
to turn it into an English-language program and then create an
English Help File for it.

As I encounter yet even more stuff for L3 I will share here with the group.
