- Like the rhythms of life, Paolo graced my life off and on throughout many years. As I got to know him deeper, his loving soul kept shinning more and more, and it was obvious he was madly in love with drumming and the joy and depth it brought to him and those whom he shared it with. I remember many events such as his early premier of "Fit Rhythms" in San Francisco when we were asked to stop playing at a Sports Trade show - they didn't quite understand how drumming was physical - it was out of their comfort zone if it wasn't something you drank, swallowed, lifted or swung at!
I also remember sitting in a limo going to a Remo dinner after a NAMM circle several years back with Christine Stevens, Arthur, and two others, his big smile and bright white teeth lit up the whole inside of that limo! And the many years at NAMM when he co-hosted the drum circle with Arthur and Christine and hanging at the facilitators gathering afterwards... but my favorite time with Paolo was at S. Ponto Beach near his home in N. San Diego county, S. Calif, the fire burning, sunset, a group of his local friends playing outdoors at the beach, the music was incredible, dun duns stacked up, marking the 'zone' and he was just IN it 100% radiating his passion, playing from his heart as he always did. There is a cool short video of him playing with the group Xstatic States on DailyMotion:
Paolo resting in Peace? I don't know, I think he will be playing his drum at full velocity! :) Thank you Paolo for sharing YOUR spirit with us... and for so many years.... and growing up to be a leader in this community!
