      Topic:   Producing PDFs using Bookmaps

      Speaker:   Julio Vazquez

When:   Wednesday August 25, presentation starts at 5:30 pm

      About the talk:
This general overview is designed to familiarize you with Bookmaps and how they can help you produce PDFs that go beyond the basic capabilities of a DITA map.
You've created your content and tried transforming it to PDF and wound up unhappy with the result. You want to have an index, appendices, and frontmatter? How about Parts, Chapters, and a title page? All of this is available through a Bookmap. In this session, Julio Vazquez will go through the Bookmap elements, explain how to reuse existing DITA maps within your Bookmap, show how Bookmaps affect PDF output, and briefly describe how to change Bookmap output.

      About the speaker:
Julio J. Vazquez is a Sr. Information Architect with SDI, author of Practical DITA, and a staunch DITA advocate. He was part of the original cross-corporate team that designed DITA. He continues to educate others on the benefits and practical aspects of DITA and encourages DITA adoption to clientele.
