Subject: [dita-users] DITA For Practitioners Vol. 1 Available for Preorder

I am pleased to announce that the print edition of my book, DITA For
Practitioners, Volume 1, Architecture and Technology, published by XML
Press, is available for preorder from Amazon (and other online bookstores as
it makes its way through their various processes).

          The book's main site is:
          http://xmlpress.net/publications/dita/practitioners-1/

DITA for Practitioners is a conceptual and how-to resource for people who
need to put DITA into production, rather than for authors using DITA to
write documents (although authors who want a deeper understanding of DITA as
a technology will, I think, find the book quite useful).

Volume 1 focuses on the DITA architecture--what are all the pieces that make
up the DITA standard?--and on the technology you use to create and process
DITA content: authoring tools, the DITA Open Toolkit, and component
          management systems.

We expect to have copies available next week at the DITA North America
          conference.

I'm still getting the companion Web site together and finalizing the EPUB
and Kindle production details, but those should be available very soon.

Volume 2 will focus on DITA vocabulary design and implementation: document
type configuration and specialization as well as the general art and science
of XML content model analysis and design as it applies to the development of
DITA-based systems. Volume 2 will include the specialization tutorials
          available at http://www.xiruss.org/tutorials/dita-specialization/. Those
tutorials will continue to be available for free online and are now produced
from the same DITA source as the book.

          Cheers,

          Eliot

                            Cheers,

                            Eliot
