The July meeting of the Silicon Valley DITA Interest Group (SVDIG) is
scheduled for Wednesday, July 14 at 7:00pm at NetApp in Sunnyvale, CA.
Topic: Single Sourcing Sans a CMS
Speaker: Ben Colborn, Citrix Systems, Inc
Info: Citrix Education has developed a suite of tools and techniques,
leveraging open-source, off-the-shelf, and home-grown technologies to
fill requirements in our development process that would otherwise be
part of CMS functionality. In this session, Ben will discuss our current
development process, our vision for a future process, and our strategy
for building training content using non-specialized DITA 1.1. He will
discuss the tools and techniques we use to develop training in multiple
languages for ILT and eLearning environments. Capabilities we will
demonstrate include: simple and effective reuse using conditional
tagging, applying a SCORM wrapper to HTML output, and building PPTs from
DITA source. Finally, he’ll close by providing an overview of challenges
still ahead, describing further gains we hope to achieve by leveraging a
CMS, and answering questions.
