Hope you all are enjoying the long weekend. I am editing Chinook – no rest for the wicked, though I did have a wonderful Sunday with family and tried to catch up on some work for my clients on Saturday. So today I must do the editing because tomorrow is back to work for clients!
I just want to give you one more kick at the can to let me know if any of the following blank positions have been filled and if I have the correct people for the others:
Genealogy Computer Group Jim Benedict
Education Committee Chair
Periodicals Committee Chair Rosemary Kry
Committee Chairs (Board Appointed)
Library Linda Murray
Projects Heather Williams
Public Relations Don Alexander
Membership Secretary Marion Firman
AFHS Webmaster Dawn Kirkpatrick
Special Interest Groups (SIG)
Beginner's Irene Oickle
Celtic Donna Kirkwood
Computer Jim Benedict
English/Welsh Ann Williams
Métis Xenia Stanford
Quebec Dawn Kirkwood
Ukrainian Xenia Stanford
Family Tree Maker Roger Leach
Reunion (Mac users) Mary Arthur
Legacy Charles Aubin
Master Genealogist Alan Peers & Blair Barr
Now if you see a blank position and you have not volunteered for anything in a while (or haven’t yet for new members) why not throw your hat in the ring. You will meet more people, have more fun, make useful connections for research in the same area as you and perhaps even meet some newfound friends. I should know! I am having a blast working on Chinook and meeting so many more of you good folk in person. I have even found some of you are then keen to help me with my research. Several have volunteered their own time to do lookups for me!
Periodicals is in excellent hands due to Rosemary and all our team for The Breeze and Chinook, but we do have one spot we would really like to fill – an assistant Chair for Rosemary, so she can pass the reins over next year. Did you know that this “management” experience looks good on resumes? As a former “boss” who hired people and now as coach to people trying to get a new job, better pay or move up the ladder, I know volunteer positions count! Retired? Then what better way to stay connected to people interested in the same hobby as you!
Let Bev Swan, our new President, know for what position you wish to volunteer or email me and I will let her know.
