      Hi All,

I got an email from a lady looking for information on her family.  Wasn’t sure where to point her for such general information and though perhaps someone here could help her?  Many thanks!

      Dear Dawn Kirkpatrick

      at

      Alberta Family Histories Society,

I'm interested in any help you could give me on my Family. Taylors especially Thirza Plum Taylor,  Pamela Ann Taylor Stephens, Wards, and any connection to Cargills.

Israel Taylor married Thirza/Thirsa Plum/Plumb (born Jan. 18, 1793 New Baltimore (town) Albany co. (now Green co.) N.Y.)  She died October 16, 1879 in Erindale, Peel Co. Ontario. She was buried in Saint Peter's English Church Cemetery, Erindale, Ontario.

Their daughter Pamela Ann Taylor was to have married Edmund Stephens and lived in Streetsville, Ontario, Canada.

Their son, Sidney Taylor married Nancy Ward and had children Permelia born 1854 and Henry Taylor born about 1859.

Sidney Taylor, son of Israel and Thirza Plum Taylor:

On the July 16th, 1860 Census for West Warren Post Office, Warren District, Bradford County, Pennsylvania was Sidney Taylor age 26, a Farm Hand, who was born in Pennsylvania, and his wife Nancy (Ward) Taylor, age 26 born in New York, and their 6 year old daughter, Permelia, who had been born in New York, and 1 year old Henry, who was born in Iowa. This leads me to this fact: they were in Iowa by 1859.

On the same Census, next door was A. Ward, age 61, born 1799, a farmer with a real estate value of $2000.00 and a personal estate value of $460.00. He was born in New York, and lived with his wife *Jane, age 62, also born in New York.

Living with A. Ward was Leroy Ward, age 28, a Farm Hand, and his wife, Frances Ward, age 26. Both had been born in Pennsylvania. There was a girl, Ida age 5 who had been born in Pennsylvania and Ada, age 1, an infant girl who was also born in Pennsylvania.

Sidney Taylor and Nancy Ward had these children: Millie Taylor, Ada Taylor, Henry Adelmar Taylor and Bert Chase Taylor.

I suspect that Jane __? Ward born 1798 in New York was possibly a Cargill. Could you help in anyway with this question.

I found this information leading from Ireland to New York to Ontario on these Cargills.

There were David Cargill born 1759 and James Cargill born 1762 who immigrated to New York about 1780.(Rootsweb Message Board Re:David & Bridget Cargill b1760 Antrim,Ir)

After being caught up in the Revolution, About 1790 David Cargill moved moved to the Niagara area of Ontario, Canada. His wife was Bridget. He had no children, but adopted Charles Anderson.

(Rootsweb Message Board Re:David & Bridget Cargill b1760 Antrim,Ir - the whole thread)

      His probable brother:

James Cargill moved to Nassagaweya, Halton Co.,Ontario, Canada.

His olest son James Cargill born about 1801,had no know children.

His son David born 1803 had children William, James b. 1831, Henry b. 1838,Alexander b. 1840, Nancy and David.
