Subject: [Arcan-l] Announcement of New Web Exhibit

      Please excuse cross-postings.

The City of Toronto Archives is pleased to announce a new exhibit on our website, entitled The Earliest Known Photographs of Toronto. This exhibit focusses on the photographs taken by Armstrong, Beere and Hime in late 1856 or early 1857. The launch of this exhibit is coincidental with the launch of the Toronto Public Library's "One Book" program, in which the TPL aims to get everyone reading and discussing Michael Redhill's book "Consolation". The characters in Mr. Redhill's novel also take photographs of Toronto from the roof of the Rossin House Hotel just like Armstrong, Beere and Hime did, and it is fascinating to see how the author has interwoven historical fact and fiction in "Consolation".

We would be delighted to hear your feedback or comments.  Enjoy!
