      ANNOUNCEMENT

      The Alberta Family Histories Society is pleased to announce that the
      winner of the Brian W. Hutchison Genealogical Scholarship for 2006 is:

      Ms Catherine Whiteley

      of Qualicum Beach BC.

      To qualify for the award Ms Whitely submitted a genealogy entitled
      "Four generations of descendants of James Davidson of County Down,
      Ireland" and an essay entitled "Using Census Data to Fill in the Picture".

      The Brian W. Hutchison Genealogical Scholarship was created in 2003
      by a generous gift from Calgary born Brian Hutchison, founder and
      principal of Gen-Find Research Associates Inc and a past member of
      the AFHS Board.

      It is Mr Hutchison's wish to encourage Canadians to pursue formal
      study of genealogical analysis, research, evaluation and
      documentation methodologies and standards.

      The Scholarship is awarded annually and pays up to $500 for tuition
      fees and books, for the recipient to study the field of genealogy and
      family history in a recognized educational or accreditation
